Bienvenue sur le site de la Congrégation des Religieuses Basiliennes Chouérites

Since the foundation of the Congregation in 1734, the Convent of the Annumciation at Zouk was recognised both as the mother-house and the house of the noviciate.

In 1953, at the time of the move to the missionary life, part of this very convent was reserved to the Noviviate. Presently the Noviciate occupies an independant pavillion in a new construction erected in the year 2000, for the residence of the curate general, near the old convent of the Annunciation.

The Formation

The formation of the novices consists of teaching them progressively human values, spiritual and religious, training them to acquire and live them. This formation is based upon the making their own of the life of Christ. It is essentially centered round the Gospel.

In order to achieve this objective, the program is composed of: Sharing of the Gospel, Liturgy training, Doctrinal study, Spirituality of Saint Basil, Church and Congregation history, the Fathers of the Church. Novices are also prepared and trained to the requirements of the Apostolic life and to the activities they will

have to practice in the future.

It is of primordial importance, according to

the Spirituality of Saint Basil, to guarantee for the novices an atmosphere dominated by the Evangelical and Apostolic life, characterised by openness, radiance and trust, which brings out the fraternal community life, based upon faith, hope and charity. This is affirmed especially through the spiritual and personal accompaniment and even the revision of life.

In the formation, one takes into consideration other activities such as: housework, manual work,  information  te-chnology training, music, Byzantine chants,

visit o the sick and the elderly.
